Me and My Nallur
Looking back, years have gone, thank that time didnt make me forget the place, where I was born, brought up , which includes education......etc. and now my dream had come true , I own a house in this place. Place which I would call a mix of all, kind of tradition , giving way for modern outlook and also a place having history with it or in making.......... As Vasanth or Karthick much dealt about the place as a temple town, wouldnt much want to dwell on this..... rather would like to say a brief on the history of the place otherwise. What ever I say here are not given after much research but a hear say.
Many of the Adivasis of Nanganallur would know that the place is called as Talakanancheri Village..... was more inhabited by Naidus and was full of fertile lands and palm trees....... Till mid seventies, the nearest railway station was meenambakkam and peoople had to walk through the burrial ground on the way.
The first of the proper lay outs to come in were A.G's and SBI. Subsequent to this came up the Voltas , MMTC and Hindu colonies. If any of you had glanced at the documents....... you would find the name Talakanancheri. As Vasanth sited about Ardhanareeshwar temple......... the histories are with many other temple, as I mentioned I wouldnt dwell much about it now..
The inhabitants of Nanganallur, were all mostly through a circle of relatives or friends or colleagues. This place had infact started having developments right before Anna nagar. Thanks to the localites that Annanagar has come up. The people movement were much lesser in activity and had thus put a block in development except for the population, which is nothing new all over India.
The first of the schools was the Govt. School (earlier known as Nehru Board High School) and amongst the Private Schools, Modern Senior Secondary School, (the place where I had my schooling all through).
The first of the flats was Ganesh Complex, which still stands good in the First Main Road and the guys who bought it real pride owners of this spacious flat, compared to the present days nests.
The first of the major agricultural land which was bought out and properly laid out for Flats was by Vijaya builders and this stands as the extension to the Lakshmi Nagar.
The first of the well known temples of this place is Rajeswari Temple near Railway Station which has its own sanctity.
The first of the major peoople movement towards development in the place is for the Palavanthangal Subway in the year 88-89.
This place is part of South Madras, which has returned candidates to higher offices both in Central and State Govt.
